Over-Marketing: Don’t Be That Person

You know that person who is always trying to sell you something? Annoying huh? I’m sure their small business or product is something you might want to know about, but not every time they speak to you or post on Facebook! Ugh- makes your head explode!

This morning, my friends over at National Military Spouse Network’s Facebook page (fabulous page for anyone) posted a great article , about a woman who became quite the entrepreneur by having a good product, using good marketing platforms, and in a sense, working off her networking skills. A wonderful feel-good story about someone making it big. Huge round of applause!

Immediately though, this article set off the “Warning…danger Will Robinson” alert. Why? Because many people do not understand how to properly use the network they already have, both in their real and virtual life. There are so many mediums to connect, nurture and build our network, both on-and off-line, the last thing anyone wants to do is become THAT PERSON. You know the one…oh shoot…here we go, he or she is going to try to sell me something again. There is a fine line and undoubtedly there will be some mistakes made along the way. And to go to the reverse situation, don’t be that person who stands in the shadows and not let anyone else know what you have to offer. Sometimes people really are curious and want to be informed about what you do. If you do it right, you never know…that one person, or their friend in your network, may be the one to help your business launch to the next level!
