Google Gone?

On the way out the door to meet with a client the other day, I saw briefly on my Facebook feed, something about Google stock going down. During our meeting we talked about how long the average website is built to last (theirs was over 10 years old) and how important Google results are to their company for Search Engine Optimization (SEO). I’m also a big fan of Google Ads – they do work!

Then I got home and read href=”http://www.cnbc.com/id/49477730″>this article about the possibility of Google being gone in five years. I kind of thought…seriously? Who is better? Bing? Google takes chances, they always have and as I always refer to the spaghetti being thrown to the wall scenario when I discuss risks, sometimes it sticks, but sometimes it doesn’t. But then again, this is technology, things change by the moment. But, all these years of harvesting data, in my honest opinion, probably makes it pretty tough for some newbie to come in and take over. But…you never know. Hey…Yahoo could make another go at it. What do you think? Can you imagine a world without Google, since you did not use it in your regular vocabulary all your life? Hey, it was not even born until 1996. Lots to think about here…

I don’t think Google is going anywhere. They’re making some moves with Google Plus that I think will just further entrench them in the way we all use the Internet.
